About the Event

The Latin American Association for Energy Economics (ALADEE), the International Association for Energy Economics (IAEE), and the Brazilian Association of Energy Economics (AB3E) have the pleasure to invite you to attend the 9th Latin American Energy Economics Meeting that will be held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil from July 28 to 30, 2024.

The global energy landscape has undergone profound transformations in recent years. Latin American countries face both challenges and opportunities given their privileged positions for energy transition, including ample availability of resources. Confronting different political, economic, and social realities, LAC countries face different challenges in articulating domestic supply and demand to achieve satisfactory service provision and sustainable development of energy industries. The opportunities lie in taking advantage of the region's abundance of competitive renewable resources and its proximity to major global consumption centers to attract investments that promote welfare gains with economic and social development, paving the way to a just and secure energy transition.

In the coming years, Brazil will host G20 Summit in Rio de Janeiro in November 2024, Clean Energy Ministerial and Mission Innovation meetings in Foz do Iguaçu in 2024 and COP 30 in Belém do Pará in November 2025. The 9th ELAEE will be part of this context and will be a great opportunity to deepen our understanding of globally relevant issues for energy economics and their consequences for the entire region.

We invite you to reflect together on all the changes taking place in the energy sector by attending the 9th ELAEE in person. Academics, business and political leaders, as well as energy consultants and analysts will discuss relevant subjects for the future of the energy in the Latin America. It will be a great opportunity to be informed of the state of the art in the field of energy economics and to interact with the international community in a favorable environment for networking and knowledge exchange. Take part in the round tables, present your work, participate in the plenary sessions with world-renowned speakers and enjoy the charms and hospitality of the wonderful city of Rio de Janeiro!
